Greetings Brethren,

Let me start out by saying that, if you ever wanted to be at our Lodge Communication, you should have been at our last one!  If you weren't there, you missed our raising three Brothers to the sublime degree of Master Mason in a marvelous fashion. Compliments afterwards ranged from "outstanding degree work" to "the best degree I've seen in years" and everywhere in between. Our ritual work and the degree teams' work were about as close to perfect as I've personally seen.  Much of the credit goes to Worshipful Brother Bob Ludwig and our team of two Very Worshipfuls, Harold Coons and Al Hejnal. The absolute key was attendance at the rehearsals!  Sure, there were a few minor slip-ups but overall it was an outstanding evening which makes me proud to be a member of our Lodge.

So how do we follow that act? Well, let me tell you. At our first communication on 2/10, we will be conferring the Entered Apprentice Degree on one of our candidates.  You really ought to stop by if you haven't attended for a while. We expect to maintain and improve on the standard we set at our last Raising. As you well know, these are significant events in the lives of our new Brothers, and showing your interest by being present helps them to appreciate the event.

A related subject is our need to continue to seek out QUALITY candidates to join our fraternity.  As we plan to have a Brother Bring A Friend night in the future, I've included a copy of "The Memory Jogger" for you to seriously think about and fill in. Worshipful Brother Brad Keil has volunteered to chair the Brother Bring A Friend committee and I appreciate him stepping forward. A couple of you have mentioned to me that you'd like to serve on the committee and that's great!  Let's really try to make it a successful effort!

Here's an interesting event to try and attend. On March 15th, Wappingers Lodge will be exemplifying the first degree as it was done 200 years ago (and in period costume).  This sounds really interesting and I encourage you to attend. The contact is Right Worshipful Brother Stu Kronk.

The Charity Ball will be held at the Sheridan in Poughkeepsie on 3/20. This worthwhile fundraising activity allowed our Lodge to contribute $1,500 to local charities last year. Let's see if we can top it this year.  The cost is $45.00 per person and includes dinner and great dancing music. Brother Michael Scott will be chairing the event for us so please contact him if you are planning to attend.  Remember that non-Masons may also attend, so bring plenty of friends along!

Here's a plug for the R. Malcolm Hunter Masonic Veterans Post #53 that meets at Wappingers Lodge every 2nd Monday of the month at 7:30.  All servicemen are welcome.

Have you remembered to contribute to the Brotherhood Fund. Remember, don't send your contributions directly to Grand Lodge. Send them to Brother Hollis Cochran who is chairing our Lodge's Brotherhood Fund committee.

As an aside, I've heard the Red Hook VFW is moving their annual corned beef dinner to the last weekend in February in order to avoid conflicting with our dinner.  Now you can attend both if you are really in to corned beef.

For those of you that are interested, Most Worshipful Brother Al Morgan, the Grand Lodge Web master, has volunteered to come down from Syracuse on a Saturday and teach us what the Internet is all about and how it can benefit our Lodge.  I forgot to bring it up at our last meeting but I ask you to think about it and let me know if you are interested.  All Dutchess District Lodges would be welcome to attend. Consider me the focal point for this effort and give me a call if you don't know what I'm talking about (914-758-4423).

Remember that our Building Committee meetings are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month and all are welcome to attend.

OK, so do I have a message for this month? Nope, just a question. Am I missing something or is the Lodge not focusing on something you think it should? Please let me know ASAP so that we can collectively do something about it.
